Top 6 Coffee Shops in Phuket

If you are as hooked on to the sweet smell of freshly ground coffee and the beautiful caffeinated buzz a good cup of joe leaves you like us, then you will find that this roundup of the best coffee shops around Phuket is invaluable.

Of course, it’s all a matter of taste and that is personal, but we will take a look not only at the quality of the brew, but also the décor and atmosphere of some of these places.

1) BAKE

(Central, Patong and North Phuket Area)
A passion for fresh coffee is at the heart of BAKE, and they’ve recently launched a perfectly matched collaboration with Bangkok’s ARTIS Coffee. ARTIS specializes in single-origin 100% Arabica coffee beans grown in the cooler northern climate in the Hill Tribes and the Golden Triangle area of Thailand. All the beans are roasted and then allowed to rest for 3 days allowing optimal flavour. This chain of stylish bakeries is situated in key locations around the island, including the British International School, Central Patong and their flagship store in Cherngtalay in the Laguna area. Bake presents a delightful range of fresh pastries, desserts and enticing treats including delicate macaroons and homemade chocolates and to enjoy with a fresh coffee.

2) Phuket Coffee Lab

(Northwest coast of Phuket)
There is no one in Phuket, possibly Thailand and perhaps in the world that is as obsessive about coffee as Danny, the proprietor of this coffee mecca. Located in Surin Beach area, on the border with Bang Tao, Coffee Lab is easy to find and is complete with a breakfast cafè offering some tasty plates. In true Aussie flair expect smashed avo on toast to accompany your cup of steaming hot long black. Brewing methods include siphon, Aeropress, filter, and Chemex. Don’t forget to try their refreshing cold brew and cold brew nitro too. With roasting taking place on the premises, it’s convenient to also walk away with a few packets of fresh coffee beans to take home.

3) Delico

(In the Centre of Phuket)
Peculiarly located on the bypass road (the highway that takes you to Central Floresta) and offers a photogenic mix match of home décor and café items (with a Thai food menu thrown in). Expect colourful teas and weird and wonderful coffee concoctions! The glistening copper coffee machine is very impressive and the focus of the barista to dress up his coffee is quite astounding! A stop off here will sate any caffeine pangs before heading to the shopping mall and its plethora of soulless commercial coffee stores, don’t forget to share the exquisite décor on Instagram, everyone else will be doing so, but it is truly very pretty at Delico.

4) Gallery Café by Pinky

(South, Central and Northern Locations)
With branches in Phuket Town, Cherngtalay, Naiharn and Chalong, Pinky has built a small empire and has really decent coffee. Catering to a mixed crowd, the joy of visiting one of her cafés is that there really is something for everyone with a good variety of healthy breakfasts, smoothies, Thai food and Sunday Roast dinners! Pinky lived in the UK for a few years so expect some welcomed Brit-Centric flavours in her menu. She offers a decent cuppa as well as good coffee arriving in all expected varieties for an eatery.

5) Feelsion Café

(Phuket Old Town)
We just can’t get enough of this super cute and vintage looking café, it even has car parking space, which is like gold dust in town. Located very close to the immigration office, this dessert-heaven is really impressive, and the coffee is really good too. Don’t be afraid to try something a little different, the Butterfly Coffee is a tri-coloured drink, blue (from the natural Butterfly Pea flower), white (milk) and brown (coffee) and it tastes sooooo good. We love the quirky décor, and the cake display is so sweet, literally. Take some time to enjoy lunch in one of the authentic Thai restaurants in the Old Town and leave space for your pudding and coffee – you will not be disappointed.

6) Boost Café

(Rawai, South Phuket)
It is a bit of a challenge to find really amazing coffee in the south of the island, but at Boost the coffee is good, well-balanced and their food menu is fantastic. Newly opened in 2019, Boost has become a well-known hangout for locals and the swathes of health conscientious people who enjoy Muay Thai and Yoga in the south of the island. Boost’s menu offers a range of very nutritious dishes, poke bowls (vegan tofu Golden bowl is really yum), smoothies, fresh juice, and their breakfast is very popular with a whole range of vegan options, lunchtime options also include something for those who are craving some meat and carbs with plenty of burgers, sandwiches and even something for Keto fans!

Happy coffee hunting!
